Battle of Lake Smolino

1502 · 16th century · Also known as Battle of Smolina · Part of the Muscovite–Lithuanian War (1500–1503)

The Battle of Lake Smolino was fought on 13 September 1502 near Pskov, when the Livonian Order under Master Wolter von Plettenberg defeated a much larger Muscovite army. Fought during the Muscovite–Lithuanian War of 1500–1503, in which the order was allied with Lithuania, the victory led to a truce in 1503 and kept Livonia free of Russian invasion for decades.
