Bay of Naples
The Bay of Naples is a gulf on the coast of Campania in southern Italy, overlooked by Mount Vesuvius and closed by the Sorrento peninsula and the islands of Ischia and Capri. Greek colonists settled its shores from the 8th century BCE, founding Cumae and Neapolis, and it later became a favoured resort of wealthy Romans.
