Charlottetown Conference
The Charlottetown Conference was a meeting of delegates from the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, held at Charlottetown in September 1864. Called to discuss a union of the Maritime colonies, it was turned by the Canadian delegates into talks on a wider federation. Its agreement in principle led to the Quebec Conference in October and to Canadian Confederation in 1867.
