Cromarty Firth

The Cromarty Firth is a sea inlet in Easter Ross in the Scottish Highlands, separating the Black Isle from the mainland to the north. Its deep, sheltered waters made Invergordon an important naval base in both world wars, and in recent decades it has been used for building and repairing oil rigs. The small historic town of Cromarty stands at its mouth.
