Dano-Swedish wars
The Dano-Swedish wars were a long series of conflicts between Denmark-Norway and Sweden for control of Scandinavia and the Baltic. Fought intermittently from the break-up of the Kalmar Union into the early eighteenth century, they shaped the rise of the Swedish Empire, notably through the Treaty of Roskilde (1658), which transferred Scania and other provinces to Sweden and largely fixed the boundaries of modern Sweden.
