Emmerich am Rhein

Emmerich am Rhein is a town on the lower Rhine in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on the Dutch border. It received town rights in 1233, later belonged to the Duchy of Cleves and was a member of the Hanseatic League. Largely destroyed in 1944–1945, it is crossed by the Rhine bridge at Emmerich, the longest suspension bridge in Germany.
