Kalkar
Kalkar is a town on the lower Rhine in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, founded by the counts of Cleves in 1230. It prospered from the cloth trade in the late Middle Ages, when its church of St Nicolai was furnished with carved altarpieces by a renowned school of local woodcarvers. It is also known for a nuclear power station that was completed but never operated and is now an amusement park.
