Giresun
Giresun, the ancient Kerasous (Cerasus), is a port city on the Black Sea coast of north-eastern Turkey. Founded as a Greek colony of Sinope, it came under the kings of Pontus in the second century BCE and later belonged to the Roman and Byzantine empires and the Empire of Trebizond, before the Ottoman conquest in the fifteenth century. It is now the capital of Giresun Province.
