Hertfordshire
Hertfordshire is a county of south-east England, immediately north of London, with Hertford as its county town. In the late Iron Age it was the heartland of the Catuvellauni, and the Roman town of Verulamium stood there beside modern St Albans. After the Roman period it was settled by Saxons and divided between Mercia and the East Saxons.
