Ibbi-Sin

r. c. 2028–2004 BCE · 21st century BCE

Ibbi-Sin was the last king of the Third Dynasty of Ur, reigning about 2028–2004 BCE. His reign saw the empire break apart as provinces broke away, Amorite incursions and famine struck, and his official Ishbi-Erra made himself independent at Isin. In about 2004 BCE the Elamites and the Shimashki kings sacked Ur and carried Ibbi-Sin captive to Anshan.
