Janibek Khan

15th century · 15th century · Also known as Zhanibek Khan

Janibek Khan was a descendant of Urus Khan of the White Horde who, with Kerei Khan, founded the Kazakh Khanate. Around 1458–1465 the two sultans broke away from Abu'l-Khayr Khan's Uzbek confederation with their followers and settled in the Chu valley in Moghulistan. After Abu'l-Khayr's death they drew many of his subjects to them, and Janibek's descendants ruled the Kazakh khanate thereafter.
