Kairatos
The Kairatos is a small river in north-central Crete that flows past the Minoan palace of Knossos and reaches the sea east of Heraklion. Its valley gave the Bronze Age palace and the later Greek city of Knossos water and a route to the coast, and the geographer Strabo records that Knossos itself was once called Kairatos after the stream.
