Lex Alamannorum

early 8th century · 8th century

The Lex Alamannorum is the law code of the Alemanni, written in Latin in the early 8th century, probably under Duke Lantfrid. It revised the earlier Pactus Alamannorum, set out compensation payments for injuries and offences, and gave a prominent place to the church and the duke. It survives in many manuscripts.
