7th century · 7th century

The Lex Ripuaria is the law code of the Ripuarian Franks of the Cologne region, written in Latin in the 7th century, probably under King Dagobert I. Based largely on the Salic law, it set out compensation payments for injuries and crimes, rules of procedure and property, and the status of different groups. It remained in use under the Carolingians.
