Lycus (Phrygia)
The Lycus, now the Çürüksu, is a river of south-western Anatolia in Turkey and a tributary of the Maeander. Its valley held the ancient cities of Laodicea, Hierapolis and Colossae, and carried the main road from the Aegean coast to the interior. In the Middle Ages the valley, around Ladik, the later Denizli, passed to Turkmen rulers.
