Manuha

11th century · 11th century

Manuha was the last king of the Mon kingdom of Thaton in Lower Burma. According to the Burmese chronicles, he refused King Anawrahta of Pagan's request for Buddhist scriptures, and in 1057 Anawrahta took Thaton and carried him, his court, monks and craftsmen to Pagan. The Manuha temple at Myinkaba near Bagan is traditionally said to have been built by him in captivity.
