Muri Abbey
Muri Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery at Muri in the Swiss canton of Aargau, founded in 1027 by Ita of Lorraine and Count Radbot as the family monastery of the early Habsburgs. Its monks helped found Engelberg Abbey in 1120. The Aargau government dissolved it in 1841 and the community moved to Gries near Bolzano, but the Habsburg link endures: the hearts of the last Austrian emperor Charles I and Empress Zita rest in its church.
