Naqada
Naqada is a town on the west bank of the Nile in Upper Egypt, north of Luxor. Nearby lie the ancient town of Nubt and large prehistoric cemeteries excavated by Flinders Petrie in the 1890s, which gave their name to the Naqada culture of about 4000 to 3000 BCE, the predynastic culture from which the unified Egyptian state emerged.
