Nathdwara

Nathdwara is a town in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, about 45 km north of Udaipur, which grew around the temple of Shrinathji. The image of Krishna was brought there in 1672 from the Mathura region, to protect it from Aurangzeb's hostility, under the protection of Maharana Raj Singh I. The temple is the chief shrine of the Pushtimarg tradition, and the town is known for its pichhwai temple paintings.
