Orange River
The Orange River is the longest river in South Africa, flowing about 2,200 kilometres from the Lesotho highlands west to the Atlantic, where it forms the border between South Africa and Namibia. In the 18th and 19th centuries the lands north of it were home to Nama, Griqua and Korana communities and became a frontier of mission stations, trekkers and colonial expansion.
