Otumba

Also known as Otumba de Gómez Farías

Otumba is a town in the State of Mexico, north-east of Mexico City, close to the ruins of Teotihuacan. Nearby obsidian sources were worked by the Teotihuacanos and later by the Aztecs, for whom Otumba was a craft centre. On the plain near the town Hernán Cortés defeated an Aztec army in July 1520, during the Spanish retreat from Tenochtitlan.
