d. 1022 · 11th century

Sabur al-Saqlabi was a Slavic freedman of the Umayyad caliphs of Córdoba who took control of the Lower March of al-Andalus, around Mérida, Badajoz and Lisbon, during the collapse of the caliphate after 1009. On his death in 1022 his vizier Abd Allah ibn al-Aftas seized Badajoz and founded the Aftasid taifa, while his sons are said to have held Lisbon.
