Salihiyya
The Salihiyya is a Sufi order founded in Mecca in the late 19th century by Muhammad Salih, a disciple in the Ahmadiyya tradition of Ahmad ibn Idris. It spread in Somalia, where its strict teaching, including a ban on tobacco and qat, won followers. Mohammed Abdullah Hassan joined it in Mecca and spread it in Somaliland, where it became the religious basis of his Dervish movement.
