Satake Yoshishige

1547–1612 · 16th century

Satake Yoshishige was a Sengoku-period warlord who led the Satake clan of Hitachi province. Nicknamed the 'demon of Hitachi', he fought the Later Hojo for control of the northern Kanto and formed alliances with neighbouring lords against them. His son Satake Yoshinobu completed the conquest of Hitachi, but the family was transferred to Akita after the Battle of Sekigahara.
