Siege of Odawara (1590)
The Siege of Odawara of 1590 was Toyotomi Hideyoshi's campaign against the Later Hojo clan, whose refusal to submit was the last obstacle to his unification of Japan. Hideyoshi surrounded Odawara Castle with a huge army and fleet and built a castle of his own nearby. After three months the Hojo surrendered; Hojo Ujimasa was ordered to commit suicide and his lands in the Kanto were given to Tokugawa Ieyasu.
