Person
Sekeletu
Sekeletu was king of the Kololo on the upper Zambezi from 1851, succeeding his father Sebetwane. He supported David Livingstone, providing porters for his journeys across Africa to Luanda and down the Zambezi to the Indian Ocean in 1853–1856. Weakened by leprosy, he ruled harshly and lost the loyalty of his subjects. After his death in 1863 the Lozi rose and destroyed Kololo rule in 1864.
