Soutpansberg

Also known as Zoutpansberg

The Soutpansberg is a mountain range in Limpopo province in the far north of South Africa, named after a salt pan at its western end. Andries Hendrik Potgieter's Voortrekkers settled at its foot in 1848, founding Schoemansdal, the centre of a Boer republic later absorbed into the South African Republic. The region is home to the Venda people and is rich in plant and animal life.
