Syriac Christians
Syriac Christians are the Christian communities of the Middle East whose liturgy and literature use Syriac, a form of Aramaic. They include the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Church of the East and the Maronites. In medieval Upper Mesopotamia and northern Syria they formed a large part of the population under Muslim dynasties and the Crusader states.
