Treaties of Tirana

1926–1927 · 20th century · Also known as Pact of Tirana

The Treaties of Tirana were two agreements between Albania under Ahmet Zogu and Fascist Italy. The first, signed in November 1926, was a pact of friendship and security in which Italy guaranteed the political status quo in Albania; the second, of November 1927, was a twenty-year defensive alliance. Together with Italian loans and control of the national bank, they made Albania an Italian dependency.
