Vendel

Vendel is a parish in Uppland, Sweden, where rich boat graves excavated from 1881 held helmets, weapons and animal sacrifices. The finds gave their name to the Vendel period of Swedish history, about 550 to 790, just before the Viking Age. Its decorated helmets resemble those of Sutton Hoo in England.
