War of the Brabantine Succession
The War of the Brabantine Succession was fought in 1356–1357 over the inheritance of Duke John III of Brabant, whose daughter Joanna and her husband Wenceslaus succeeded him. Louis of Male, Count of Flanders, claimed part of the duchy, defeated the Brabançons at Scheut in 1356 and occupied Brussels and Mechelen. The Peace of Ath in 1357 gave him Mechelen and Antwerp.
