Zij-i Sultani
The Zij-i Sultani is the set of astronomical tables compiled at Ulugh Beg's observatory in Samarkand and completed around 1437. Written in Persian, it contains calendrical, trigonometric and planetary tables and a catalogue of about a thousand stars based on fresh observations, regarded as the most important star catalogue between Ptolemy and Tycho Brahe. It was copied widely in the Islamic world and published in Europe from the seventeenth century.
