Confederate Ireland signs the First Ormond Peace with Charles I
For the Supreme Council of Confederate Ireland, Donough MacCarty signed the First Ormond Peace with Ormonde for King Charles I, in exchange for greater freedom of religion. It was signed unbeknownst to the Confederate commanders and without the papal nuncio, Rinuccini.
