Amorites
The Amorites were a Semitic-speaking people of ancient Syria and Mesopotamia, originally seen by Mesopotamian sources as nomadic outsiders. In the late third millennium BCE their migrations put pressure on the Akkadian and Neo-Sumerian empires. Amorite dynasties later ruled many Mesopotamian cities, including the First Dynasty of Babylon under Hammurabi and an early Assyrian line under Shamshi-Adad I.
