Avranchin
The Avranchin is the historic district around Avranches in south-western Normandy, France, facing Mont-Saint-Michel across the bay. In 867 Charles the Bald granted it with the Cotentin to the Breton king Salomon, but in 933 it passed to William Longsword of Normandy, fixing the western border between Normandy and Brittany. It corresponds roughly to the southern part of the department of Manche.
