Banu Ifran
The Banu Ifran were a Zenata Berber tribe of the central and western Maghreb. In the Berber revolt against the Umayyads from 740 they embraced Sufri Kharijism, and their leader Abu Qurra founded a state at Tlemcen. In the 10th and 11th centuries Ifranid emirs ruled Tlemcen and later Salé and Chellah, at times allied with the Caliphate of Córdoba, until the Almoravids conquered their lands.
