Blantyre
Blantyre is the main commercial city of Malawi, in the Shire Highlands of the south. It was founded in 1876 as a Church of Scotland mission and named after the Scottish birthplace of David Livingstone. The mission and the trading posts of the African Lakes Company drew Britain into the region and led to the British Central Africa Protectorate.
