Gomani I
Gomani I, also called Chikuse, was paramount chief of the Maseko Ngoni in what is now southern Malawi in the late nineteenth century. The son of Mputa, he ruled from the highlands south-west of Lake Malawi, resisted British demands for labour and tax, and stopped his people from working for European planters. British forces of the Central Africa Protectorate attacked him in 1896, and he was captured and shot.
