Maseko Ngoni
The Maseko Ngoni are a branch of the Ngoni people whose ancestors left the Zulu region of south-eastern Africa in the 1820s during the upheavals of the Mfecane. Under Ngwana and then Mputa they crossed the Zambezi and moved as far north as southern Tanzania before turning south again. Around 1870 they settled in the highlands of what is now southern Malawi, where their kingdom ruled many Chewa and Nyanja villages.
