Haifa
Haifa is a port city in northern Israel on the Bay of Haifa, at the foot of Mount Carmel. A small town in the Middle Ages, it was captured by the crusaders in 1100 and became a minor lordship of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. It grew rapidly from the late 19th century with the railway and harbour, and is now one of Israel's largest cities and its main seaport.
