The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) is a Mexican political party that held the presidency without interruption from its founding in 1929 until 2000. Founded by Plutarco Elías Calles as the National Revolutionary Party, reorganised by Lázaro Cárdenas in 1938 and renamed in 1946, it ruled through patronage, corporatist organisations of workers and peasants, and control of elections. It held the presidency again from 2012 to 2018.
