Jorhat
Jorhat is a city in Upper Assam, north-east India, near the south bank of the Brahmaputra and the headquarters of Jorhat district. Gaurinath Singha moved the Ahom capital there in 1794, and it remained the seat of the last Ahom kings until the Burmese invasions. Today it is a centre of the tea industry, home to the Tocklai tea research station and Assam Agricultural University.
