Kherlen River
The Kherlen is a river of eastern Mongolia and north-eastern China, about 1,250 kilometres long, which rises in the Khentii Mountains and flows east into Hulun Lake. Its valley, with that of the Onon, was the homeland of Genghis Khan's Mongols, and an early Mongol royal camp at Avarga lay on its banks. Later it was the heart of the Setsen Khan's lands in eastern Khalkha.
