Miao people

The Miao are an ethnic group of southern China, living mainly in Guizhou, Hunan, Yunnan, Sichuan and Guangxi, and officially one of China's largest minorities. The name covers several related peoples, including the Hmong, who also live in Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. They rose repeatedly against Chinese rule, most notably in the Miao rebellions of the 18th and 19th centuries.
