Nasr ibn Ali

d. 1012/13 · 11th century · Also known as Arslan Ilek Nasr

Nasr ibn Ali was a Kara-Khanid ruler who in 999 captured Bukhara and ended the Samanid Empire, bringing Transoxiana under Turkic Muslim rule. His conquests made the Kara-Khanids neighbours and rivals of Mahmud of Ghazni along the Oxus. His son Ibrahim Tamghach Khan later founded the Western Kara-Khanid Khanate at Samarkand.
