Odenwald
The Odenwald is a wooded upland region in southern Hesse, northern Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, Germany, between the Rhine plain, the Main and the Neckar. In the Middle Ages and early modern period it was divided among the Electoral Palatinate, the Counts of Erbach, the Archbishop of Mainz and other lords, and it is known for its castles and the Roman frontier line that crossed it.
