Rang Ghar

c. 1746 · 18th century

The Rang Ghar is a two-storeyed brick pavilion at Rangpur, near Sivasagar in Assam, built around 1746 under the Ahom king Pramatta Singha. It served as a royal stand from which kings and nobles watched buffalo fights and other games during the Rongali Bihu festival, and its roof is shaped like an upturned Ahom royal boat. It is one of the best-known monuments of the Ahom kingdom.
