Ruy González de Clavijo

Leaving Spain in 1403, he travelled through Constantinople, Trebizond, Erzincan and Persia and reached Samarkand in 1404. His account of the embassy, published as the Embajada a Tamorlán, is a major source on Timur's court and the lands between the Black Sea and Central Asia.
