Song of Release
The Song of Release is a Hurrian poem preserved in a bilingual Hurrian–Hittite version on tablets from Hattusa, dating from the fifteenth century BCE. It tells how the city of Ebla refused the storm god Teshub's demand to free captives from the town of Igingallis and was destroyed in punishment. It is thought to reflect memories of Ebla's destruction around 1600 BCE and is among the oldest Hurrian literary works.
