Sufetula
Sufetula, modern Sbeitla in central Tunisia, was a Roman town that flourished from the 2nd century CE, known for its well-preserved forum with three temples to the Capitoline gods. In the 7th century it was the seat of the exarch Gregory the Patrician, who was defeated and killed near it by an Arab army in 647. The battle opened the way for Arab raids into Byzantine Africa.
